America- A Foundation of Hate?
It is no surprise our current leadership has embraced a ideology contrary to the values established by our founding fathers. This has been validated on several occasions from our President’s lack of support for Israel to his down playing of the National Day of Prayer to his international apology tour.I have to wonder with the current polls of our president still showing Christian voter support, are we a country built on hate? To answer this question, I turn to a report that has been on every news wire and circulated throughout dissident crowds across the heartland of this great nation. The report was researched, compiled, and produced by the U.S. Government, Department of Homeland Security, using our money. A cursory review of “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment” could yield an opinion that its target is neo-Nazi hate groups. However, reading the “fine print” produces a startling revelation of government’s determination of hate groups. “Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented… and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue such as abortion or immigration.” Our founding fathers were clear on the role of federal government and the pitfalls of a coercive federal government. In The Federalist Papers, James Madison was clear – the state governments are needed by the federal government to justify its existence while the state government should not be totally dependent on the federal government. “Its (federal government) schemes of usurpation will be easily defeated by the state governments, who will be supported by the people.” This simply means the states are responsible for reacting to federal tyranny and the people should support that action. Today the thoughts and reasoning of The Federalist Papers would be considered hate speech by our government.Let’s look at other thoughts of our founding fathers. “It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible” George Washington. Today the father of our nation would be considered a propagator of hate speech and possibly an enemy of the state. How about – “Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation, to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.” Today our first Supreme Court justice, John Jay, would be considered a hate monger exposing venomous remarks so narrow minded that America is a Christian nation and we should select like minded Christians as our leaders.” Preposterous!“The only foundation for a republic is to be laid in Religion. Without this there can be no virtue, and without virtue there can be no liberty, and liberty is the object and life of all republic governments. Today Benjamin Rush, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and father of public schools, would not be at the table because of his right wing extremist beliefs.“Religion and virtue are the only foundations, not only of republicanism and of all free government, but of social felicity under all governments and in all the combinations of human society. Yesterday - John Adams, a founding father. Today – a right wing extremist.”“I therefore beg leave to move that hence forth prayer imploring the assistance of Heaven, and its blessing on our deliberations, be held in this Assembly every morning.” Benjamin Franklin, founding father, signer of our constitution and right wing extremist.
It seems that many of our founding fathers were right wing extremists’ intent on overthrowing a tyrannical government for the inalienable rights of life liberty and pursuit of happiness. Today we know America was built on the principals of Christianity and the Bible is the foundation for our lives in this great nation. Unfortunately, today our leadership has determined this foundation to be a threat to the new America. Today we are an America where God is removed from our public lives at every corner. We are an America where government, through their entitlements and social programs has positioned themselves as a god to the people creating a 21st century enslavement of generations beholding to them. Today our foundation is considered a foundation of hate and for the very reason our founding fathers fought for the freedom from government tyranny we find ourselves in that same battle. Today, as Christians, we must renew the patriotic spirit and passion for evangelism that consumed our founding fathers. We must rise up against the tyranny and make our voices known. ###Pastor John C. Isbell is the President of A Line in the Sand Ministries, Inc.
